At just 4 years old, Olivia’s AVM rupture brought sudden and frightening symptoms — vomiting, dizziness, extreme fatigue, and loss of balance. A craniotomy was performed to remove the ruptured AVM, but complications followed. When she could no longer open her right eye and her symptoms worsened, doctors discovered cranial pressure. Olivia was given an EVD and eventually a right VP shunt, leading to a diagnosis of hydrocephalus.
Confined to her hospital bed for 32 days, Olivia faced the loss of muscle mass and had to learn how to walk again after her stroke. Yet even in those long weeks, her spirit never dimmed. With the help of her costumes and imagination, Olivia dressed as her favorite princesses, smiling brightly as she was wheeled through the halls.
Olivia’s journey is one of bravery, determination, and a reminder that even when life feels heavy, joy and magic can still shine through.
