On June 29, 2024, Griffin’s life changed in an instant. What began as dizziness, ringing in his ears, and slurred speech quickly became an AVM rupture that left him in critical condition. Intubated and rushed to the children’s hospital, he spent two weeks fighting for his life. An angiogram confirmed his AVM deep in the midbrain/pons area, too close to his brainstem for surgery. With a drain placed to relieve swelling and weeks of intensive care, Griffin’s AVM thankfully stopped bleeding on its own.

After six weeks of inpatient rehabilitation, Griffin continues his therapy journey with courage — six sessions a week of speech, occupational, and physical therapies. While he still faces challenges with walking, balance, tremors, speech, and vision, Griffin tackles every day determined to regain strength and independence. His resilience is a reminder that progress, no matter how hard-earned, is worth celebrating.
